Introduction
Rapid International launched the Rapid Transbatch, a mobile batching plant featuring the well-regarded 3 cubic meter Rapid Twin Shaft concrete mixer. Built in Northern Ireland, the plant combines quality engineering with portability, making it suitable for various construction needs.
The Problem
Contractors often need batching plants that can be easily moved between sites while still providing reliable, high output. There is also a demand for equipment that can handle specialist concrete mixes quickly and maintain long-term durability, especially for short-term or on-site projects.
What Work Was Carried Out
The Transbatch plant includes four aggregate bins, each holding 10 cubic meters, with pneumatic discharge doors and a weighing belt feeding the mixer. A cement weigh hopper with aeration and vibration features ensures proper flow, and twin additive meters allow precise addition of liquid components. The core of the plant is the Rapid Twin Shaft mixer, available in 3 cubic meter or 1.5 cubic meter capacities depending on the model. The mixer uses thick chill cast tiles for durability and includes hinged access covers and a hydraulic discharge door for easy maintenance.
The whole unit is fully mobile, with stairs and walkways that fold for transport. A built-in control room located beside the truck loading area houses an automatic control system for managing the batching process. Additional features include a compressor setup and a winterisation package for use in colder climates.
The Results
This plant provides excellent batch output suited to a wide range of applications, including specialist high-strength concrete and lean mixes like roller compacted concrete. Its mobility and robust design give contractors flexibility while offering fast turnaround and reliable performance.
