Hoddam Contracting updated their concrete production with a new Rapid 90B static batching plant, improving efficiency and output at their Ecclefechan site.
Introduction
Hoddam Contracting Co. Ltd, a well-established concrete block manufacturer in South West Scotland, chose to modernize their batching equipment to better serve their ready mix and block production facilities.
The Problem
Their existing static batching plant was showing signs of wear and required frequent maintenance. With increasing demand and a need for more reliable, cost-effective production, they sought an upgrade. Having worked with Rapid International before, they trusted them to deliver a solution that would meet their evolving needs.
What Work Was Carried Out
Rapid carried out a comprehensive upgrade of Hoddam’s plant, replacing nearly all components except for recently installed cement silos. The project included installing new aggregate bins, weigh belts, a mixer platform, an R3000 Rapid pan mixer, a water weighing system, and a PIL control system. Throughout the process, Rapid collaborated closely with Hoddam’s team to handle any challenges and ensure the plant was installed and commissioned to their satisfaction. The Rapid 90B plant features a modular design with pre-wired sections for fast installation and includes a 3 cubic meter pan mixer capable of continuous output up to 70 cubic meters per hour.
The Results
The new plant improved production speed and reliability, offering Hoddam Contracting the ability to meet demands for both ready mixed concrete and block manufacturing from a single facility. The upgrade also reduced downtime and maintenance needs, helping the company continue growing its business.
Closing Note
Hoddam’s confidence in Rapid’s products and support led to a successful plant upgrade. Both companies look forward to ongoing collaboration as Hoddam expands its production capabilities.
